It's a matter of personal preference. Some people like to mimic what the old Quicken 2007 did by putting VOID in the Payee name field (eastward.g. "VOID-ABC Shop"). Only this creates a new and carve up Payee, and in my stance, that's non what you desire at all; yous want a record of who the transaction was to AND that information technology was voided.

So I first edit the Memo/Notes field to add VOID, the original dollar amount, and perchance a reason: "VOID $123.45-Cheque never cleared banking company". Then alter the Amount to zero. The adjacent time you reconcile, mark the transaction cleared. This way, yous accept the transaction attached to the original Payee, you accept documented how much the transaction was supposed to exist, and cleared it.

This seems pretty cumbersome compared to the QuickBooks mode of voiding a check on a PC: CTL+V, and voila, the cheque is voided! Maybe someday Quicken will come around. Such is life!

Its really non a problem, in my opinion. How many voided transactions do you have per yr? Unless it's more a handful, so manually curating your voids is not an issue.

I did not similar the way the legacy Quicken Mac handled voids, considering it wiped out the original amount, which I wanted to have a record of; doing information technology manually allows me to retain the data I found useful.

Information technology's a matter of personal preference. Some people similar to mimic what the old Quicken 2007 did past putting VOID in the Payee proper name field (due east.g. "VOID-ABC Store"). But this creates a new and separate Payee, and in my opinion, that's not what you want at all; you desire a record of who the transaction was to AND that information technology was voided.

And so I first edit the Memo/Notes field to add VOID, the original dollar corporeality, and perhaps a reason: "VOID $123.45-Check never cleared bank". Then alter the Amount to nix. The adjacent time you lot reconcile, marker the transaction cleared. This way, you have the transaction attached to the original Payee, yous have documented how much the transaction was supposed to exist, and cleared it.

This seems pretty cumbersome compared to the QuickBooks way of voiding a cheque on a PC: CTL+5, and voila, the bank check is voided! Maybe someday Quicken will come up around. Such is life!

Its actually not a trouble, in my stance. How many voided transactions do you take per year? Unless it's more than a scattering, and so manually curating your voids is not an consequence.

I did not like the fashion the legacy Quicken Mac handled voids, because it wiped out the original amount, which I wanted to take a record of; doing information technology manually allows me to retain the data I plant useful.
